eid al-fitr 2010

Eid al Fitr 2010 Ends Ramadan: Happy Eid al Fitr Celebrations and Greetings – After 30 days of fasting from August 11 to September 9, 2010, Ramadan will finally end with a celebration called “Eid ul Fitr” or sometimes spelled as Eid al Fitr. The word “Eid” is an Arabic word referring to as festivity while the word “Fitr” means break-fasting. As commanded by Quran, Muslims should complete their fasting on the last day of Ramadan and then recite the Takbir or “Allahu Akbar” all throughout the period of Eid.
Typically, during Eid al Fitr, Muslims wake up very early in the morning before the sun rises. They offer a prayer called Salatul Fajr, clean their teeth with a brush, take a shower called Gosul after Fajr, put on new clothes or the best available, and apply perfume. Since Eid al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, it is forbidden for Muslims to fast on that day. That is why it is advisable to take a small breakfast of sweet dish, preferably the date fruit, before attending the special Eid al Fitr prayer called Salah.
